Khaleda Zia sitting in a wheelchair as her son Tarique Rahmnan hugs her– shows a photo capturing one of the first moments of the reunion of the mother and son in seven years. The photo, along with a few more, has gone viral on social media platforms, most notably on Facebook.

Khaleda, former three-time prime minister and BNP chairperson, met Tarique, acting chairman of the party, at Heathrow Airport today (8 January). Tarique's wife Zubaida Rahman was present on the occasion.

Khaleda, who left Dhaka on Tuesday (7 January) night aboard a special air ambulance sent by the Emir of Qatar, reached London to receive advanced treatment at The London Clinic this afternoon.

The photos of Tarique meeting his mother after so long have grabbed the netizens' attention, many of whom have reshared the photos from the BNP Media Cell page and news outlets, or re-uploaded them on their own with warm-hearted captions.

"Reunion with his mother after 7 years it's really a precious moment," wrote one user named Aurnob Ahammed.

"Keep all the political issues aside and consider, What a surreal feeling it must have been by reuniting with his mother after 7 years!!" wrote another user named Rubaya Alam Ohyee.

"Discussion outside of politics, just a mother and her son, a long awaited embrace!" wrote Arefin Rakib, a student at the Dhaka University.

"wholesome.... the long wait is over now .. what a moment..... Goosebump," wrote another user named Salmanur Rahman Barat.
