Bangladesh, China discuss boosting tourism, aviation cooperation
Both sides expressed optimism about further strengthening bilateral engagement and working together
Bangladesh and China have discussed strengthening cooperation in the tourism and civil aviation sectors, with a focus on expanding connectivity, promoting tourist destinations, and encouraging greater people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.
The issues were raised during a courtesy call by the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Bangladesh, Yao Wen, on the Minister and State Minister of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism at the Minister's office in the Bangladesh Secretariat today (11 March) at 2:30 PM.
The meeting was attended by the Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism, Afroza Khanam (Rita), MP, and the State Minister, M. Rashiduzzaman Millat.
During the discussion, both sides expressed optimism about further strengthening bilateral engagement and working together to develop Bangladesh's tourism sector. They emphasised promoting Bangladesh's tourist destinations and enhancing cooperation to attract more international visitors.
Ambassador Yao Wen also expressed interest in increasing the frequency of flights on the Bangladesh–Beijing and Bangladesh–Guangzhou routes to facilitate tourism growth and strengthen aviation connectivity. The Minister and State Minister assured their full cooperation in this regard.
The Chinese Ambassador further reiterated China's continued support for Bangladesh's tourism development initiatives, particularly the ongoing development activities in Cox's Bazar. Both sides also showed interest in exploring joint initiatives under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model to further expand tourism and aviation cooperation.
