Mild cold wave sweeping over country's northern part

Weather may remain dry with temporary partly cloudy sky over the country, the forecast added

Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) today (3 January) forecasted that a mild cold wave is sweeping over the northern region and other five northern districts begins from this morning.

"Mild cold wave is sweeping over Rangpur division and the districts of Rajshahi, Pabna, Bogura, Naogaon and Kushtia," said the forecast for the next 24 hours begins from 9am.

Weather may remain dry with temporary partly cloudy sky over the country, the forecast added.

Ridge of sub-continental high extends up to West Bengal and adjoining area. Seasonal low lies over the South Bay, extending its trough to the Northeast Bay.

Moderate to dense fog may occur over the country during midnight to morning and it may continue at places till noon. Air navigation, inland river transport and road communication may disrupt temporarily due to dense fog.

Foggy weather prevails in Dhaka as cold wave continues

Night temperature may rise slightly and day temperature may rise by 1-3 degree Celsius over western part and it may remain nearly unchanged elsewhere over the country. Due to the dense fog, cold feelings may persist at places over the country during daytime.

Country's maximum temperature on Thursday was recorded at 25.5 degree Celsius at Sylhet district and today's minimum temperature 08.3 degree Celsius was recorded at Tetulia in Panchagarh district.

The sun rises at 5.24am today and sets at 6.42pm tomorrow (4 January) in the capital.
