Islami Chhatra Shibir had both direct and indirect involvement in the 2024 mass uprising, said Sarjis Alam, July Shaheed Smriti Foundation general secretary.

He made the remarks during his speech as a special guest at the Islami Chhatra Shibir Central Member Conference 2024, at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital today (31 December).

Addressing the gathering, Sarjis said, "Revolutionary salute to the comrades in the '24 movement who are in front of me. As we have planned together before, we will move forward in the future as well. We will resist those who become obstacles in our country like Sheikh Hasina as fascism."

Sarjis accused Sheikh Hasina's regime of silencing opposition voices through violence and repression.

"In the past, the murderous dictatorship of Sheikh Hasina killed and disappeared anyone who was considered a threat through the blame game. We have expelled the murderer Hasina from this country," he said.

In his advice to Chhatra Shibir, Sarjis underscored prioritising the interests of the nation over personal, group, or party interests.

"You, Shibir, move forward through your work. The advice I give to Shibir is—'Think about the people of the country before individuals, groups, and parties on any issue in the country.'"
