Leaders of Bangladesh Chamber of Industries (BCI) have urged the policymakers to understand the various problems the industry sector has been facing in their business.

They said taking initiative to solve the problems of the industrial sector will help the economy to grow fast.

The call came from the 38th Annual General Meeting of Bangladesh Chamber of Industries (BCI), held at the BCI Boardroom on Saturday (21 December).

The meeting was presided over by BCI President Anwar-ul Alam Chowdhury (Parvez).

At the beginning of the meeting, prayers were offered for the departed souls of BCI members and condolence was offered on the death of recently deceased Director Rotarian Eng. Md. Mohabbat Ullah and former Senior Vice President Md Shamsur Rahman.

A minute of silence was observed to pray for the eternal peace of the deceased and pay tribute to those who died in the great Liberation War.

BCI Secretary General Dr Md Helal Uddin conducted the meeting as per the scheduled agenda.

BCI president Parvez Chowdhury highlighted the activities of BCI in the last 23-24 fiscal year and the economic situation of the country during that time.

The audited accounts of the last 2023-2024 fiscal year were approved and the auditor was appointed for the 2024-2025 fiscal year.

BCI member Obaidur Rahman, BSRM representative Soumitra Kumar Mutsuddi, Vista Electronics Managing Director Lokman Hossain Akash, Al-Bakara Holding Ltd. Chairman and freedom fighter Kazi ATM Anisur Rahman Bulbul, Pran Group Chairman and newly elected BCI Director Ahsan Khan Chedhuri, Army Welfare Organization Chairman Major General Md. Habib Ullah, former BCI Presidents Shahedul Islam Helal and Mostafa Azad Chowdhury Babu and former BCI Senior Vice President Major General (Retd) SM Shahabuddin participated in the open discussion on various agendas.

The BCI president said that with their members' cooperation and support, BCI is working to protect the interests of its members.

As the country's single and only national chamber of industry, BCI is working to remove various obstacles to all types of industries in the country. Especially since the change in the political landscape, it has been working with various quarters of the government to solve the problems of the industry.

He said that those who will provide services to protect the interests of the businessmen should understand the problems of the businessmen.

"We should collectively highlight the problems of the businessmen to those who are in the policy and make them understand the impact of such problems on the business sector," he added.

With this aim, if they understand the problems of the businessmen, they will take the initiative to solve them. He requested all the chambers and associations to present their proposals and requested them to support the activities of BCI.

He introduced all the esteemed directors and newly elected directors of BCI (2025-2027) to the meeting.

At the end of the meeting, BCI Senior Vice President Preeti Chakraborty thanked everyone and sought everyone's cooperation in the future.
