The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) should make it public whether or not its officials are free from corrupt practices, the new Commissioner Brig Gen (retd) Hafiz Ahsan Farid said today (15 December).

"I will also submit my wealth statement. If we [ACC officials] are working against corruption, whether or not we are truly corruption-free should be made public," he told reporters at a briefing at the ACC headquarters today (15 December).

"The people of the country should know what assets we have now and what assets we will have when we leave this commission."

He further added, "The trust and reliability with which I have been appointed to the ACC is something I want to fulfill. This trust carries the blood, hopes, aspirations, and struggles of the July revolution. I want to protect it at any cost."

Earlier on 11 December, newly-appointed ACC Chairman Dr Abdul Momen stated he would submit a report on his assets within seven days.

At the same time, two others - Mian Md Ali Akbar Azizi and Brig Gen (retd) Hafiz Ahsan Farid - were appointed as ACC commissioners.
