In recognition of their historic achievement, the National Sports Council (NSC) has announced a reward of BDT 20 lakh for Bangladesh's U-21 hockey team.

The team secured its place in the 2025 Junior Hockey World Cup by finishing fifth in the Junior Asia Cup, held in Oman.

This marks the country's first-ever qualification for the global event, and the reward highlights the significance of their achievement.

Bangladesh capped off their campaign with a dominant 6-3 victory over China in their final match.

Following the win, the team returned home on 5 December to a warm reception, with the Hockey Federation celebrating their success.

Air Chief Marshal Shaikh Abdul Hannan, Chief of Air Staff and President of the Hockey Federation, announced a reward of BDT 5 lakh for the players during the reception.

The NSC's BDT 20 lakh reward was announced on 6 December, in an official statement recognising the team's outstanding performance in securing a spot in the Junior Hockey World Cup for the first time. The Ministry of Youth and Sports, along with the NSC, honoured the team for their historic feat.

Next year, the Junior Hockey World Cup will take place in India, featuring seven Asian teams. India, as the host nation, secured their place by reaching the semi-finals of the Asian Junior Hockey Championship, while Bangladesh earned their spot by finishing among the top six teams in the Asia Cup, excluding India.
