Do not threaten those who are ready to sacrifice their lives for the country, said Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman today in a warning to India and Awami League.

"Who are you scaring? Do not threaten those who were ready to give their lives in the war even after losing an arm or becoming disabled. Do not taunt those for whom martyrdom is dear," he told AL and India while addressing an activists' conference of the Jamaat metropolitan unit held at the Cumilla Town Hall in the city.

Bangladesh will not tolerate any form of aggression or territorial infringement, he said, stressing that no inch of the country's land would be surrendered to anyone.

The Jamaat chief warned India directly, saying, "We will not give an inch of Bangladesh's land to anyone. We will not tolerate any aggression."

"I express gratitude to those who fought against dictatorship from within the country and outside the country. Within a month of the Awami League coming to power, 57 patriotic army officers were killed. Two commissions were formed, but they did not see the light of day," he said.

He said after the killing of the army officers, the patriotic and disciplined BDR was made the border guards. Awami League embarked on a mission to kill people. It committed murder till the last day it was in power, Shafiqur added.

"We want justice for every incident. If justice is not ensured, terrorism will rise to its peak," he warned.

Meanwhile, the Jamaat chief also demanded making Cumilla a division as it was previously "humiliated" by the previous AL government which did not make it a division because of its name.

There are two closed airports in Bangladesh, one of them is not important but the one in Cumilla is important and should be reopened, he said.

Regarding Sheikh Hasina refusing to make Cumilla a division due to its name, he said, "You [Hasina] could not respect every inch of land in Bangladesh. You were not worthy of being the prime minister. I will urge the current government to declare the humiliated Cumilla a division."
