Advisory Council did not discuss banning ISKCON: Advisor Rizwana
Speaking about the next general elections, the adviser said the polls will be held after all reform works are done. “Six reform commissions have been given time till December to submit recommendations. Some say it will take a few weeks longer.”
Matters such as banning any organisation or agency have not been discussed at the advisory council meeting, Environment, Forest, Climate Change and Water Resources Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan has said.
She made the remarks responding to a query from reporters regarding banning the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (Iskcon), at a press conference at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital today (28 November).
"One individual has been arrested on specific charges. The legal process is ongoing in this connection. The arrestee may or may not be accused; the court will look into it," the adviser said further.

Commenting on the upcoming national polls, she said the elections will be held after necessary reforms.
"Six reform commissions have been given time till December to submit recommendations. Some said it may require an additional one to two weeks. Reform commissions are associated with the electoral process," she added.
Rizwana said public opinions will be solicited after the commission's recommendations, based on which a final recommendation will be made, and action will be taken accordingly.
"After completing the reforms as soon as possible, we will go towards the elections. The primary task of starting the election is the formation of the Election Commission," the adviser said further.
At the press briefing, regarding the meetings of the chief adviser with the BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami, Adviser Mahfuz Alam said they advised on concerted efforts to protect the country's sovereignty and as well as for the sake of national interest. "Both parties have placed positive proposals."
