A court has acquitted 32 people, including BNP acting chairperson Tarique Rahman, in an explosive case filed with the Joydebpur Police Station in Gazipur by police in 2015.
Gazipur District and Sessions Judge 2nd Court Special Tribunal-3 Judge Bahauddin Kazi passed the order today (24 November) after a hearing, said Advocate Shahiduzzaman, the defence lawyer in the case.
According to court sources, Joydebpur Police Station SI Dilip Chandra Sarkar filed case No-(101(1)15) under the Special Powers (Explosives) Act of 1974 against 70-73 people, including 18 named, with the then Hotapara police outpost of Gazipur Sadar in January 2015, over the torching of a parked bus.

Later, in August of the same year, SI Emdadul Haque investigated and submitted a charge sheet to the court naming 32 people, including BNP acting chairperson Tarique Rahman and former mayor and state minister late Professor MA Mannan's son Manjurul Karim Rony.
