NBR extends VAT return submission deadline by one week
The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has extended the deadline for submitting online VAT returns for the January 2026 tax period by one week.
In a notification issued on yesterday (15 February), the revenue authority said taxpayers will now be able to file their returns through the e-VAT system until 22 February, instead of the earlier deadline.
According to the notification, the extension was granted due to a series of prolonged government holidays marking Shab-e-Barat and the 13th National Parliamentary Election, as well as temporary disruptions to the e-challan system and VAT server on 15 February, which affected taxpayers' ability to submit returns on time.
