Forget everything, focus on your duties in the nation's interest: NBR chairman to officials
"We hope that we won't have to face such problems in the future. My call is for everyone to work with efficiency as they did in the past," says Abdur Rahman Khan

National Board of Revenue (NBR) Chairman Abdur Rahman Khan has called upon the officials of the organisation to forget everything and focus on their respective responsibilities in the nation's interest.
"We hope that we won't have to face such problems in the future. My call is for everyone to work with efficiency as they did in the past," he said during a discussion with journalists at his office at the NBR Headquarters in Agargaon today (30 June).
At that time, he said revenue collection of more than Tk3.6 lakh crore has been achieved until this morning.
Stating that there will be growth this year compared to the 2023-24 financial year (FY), he said, "Some more revenue will be added in the coming days. It will take two to three weeks to obtain the final figures. However, we are certain that there will be growth compared to last year."
At the same time, he said revenue collection has been hindered by the movements of the past few days.
According to the Ministry of Finance data for the 2024-25 financial year, revenue collection was Tk3.63 lakh crore.
On the other hand, the government initially set a revenue collection target of Tk4.8 lakh crore for the current financial year. However, it was later reduced to Tk4.65 lakh crore.
In that consideration, NBR's revenue deficit alone is expected to exceed Tk1 lakh crore compared to the target, which would be a record.
