Health ministry appeals to families of missing persons for DNA cooperation
Authorities have collected DNA samples from six unidentified bodies, who died when an Air Force jet crashed into Milestone School and College in the capital's Uttara area on 21 July.
The bodies are currently kept at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH).
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare last night (22 July), alongside the six bodies, five body parts were also recovered and preserved for forensic analysis.
Additionally, samples from two guardians, presumed to be the parents of one of the victims, have been collected to assist with DNA matching.
The ministry urged all individuals who are still searching for missing family members to visit the CID headquarters at Malibagh and assist with the DNA matching process.
"Since the identities of six victims have not yet been established, we sincerely request that those who cannot locate their children or relatives in the provided victim list, please come forward and cooperate with DNA sampling," the statement read.
Assistant Professor Dr Subrato Howlader conducted the post-mortem examinations from the Forensic Department of Sir Salimullah Medical College and Hospital, while the DNA collection was overseen by DIG Jamshed Ali of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) forensic division, it added.
