The price of 22-carat gold has reached a record high of Tk1,15,824 per bhori in the country.

The Bangladesh Jeweller's Association (Bajus), in a press release issued on Saturday, said 22-carat gold price has been increased by Tk1,750 per bhori or 11.664 grams.

The adjustment followed a price hike in the local bullion market, it said, adding that the new rate will be effective from Sunday.

According to the release, 21-carat gold will now cost Tk1,10,575 and 18-carat Tk94,770 while traditional gold will be sold at Tk78,965.

This is the sixth time Bajus increased the price of gold this year.

Earlier on 21 March, Bajus increased the price of 22-carat gold by Tk2,916 per bhori to Tk1,14,744.

The per bhori price of 21-carat gold was set at Tk1,08,883 and 18-carat one at Tk93,312 while the traditional gold price was set at Tk77,799.
