Finxcel 9.0 concludes empowering students with Excel mastery and financial skills

The East West University Investment and Finance Club (EWUIFC), in proud collaboration with CodeCrafters International, brought the curtain down on the ninth edition of its flagship event, Finxcel 9.0, on Saturday, 10 May 2025. Under the banner "Unlock Excel Mastery," the initiative aimed to equip university students with essential skills in Excel and financial analysis, bridging classroom theory with real-world application.
This year's Finxcel witnessed an overwhelming response, drawing 617 participants from over 40 universities across Bangladesh. The journey commenced on 29 April with a foundational Excel workshop led by Mahtab Ahmed Abid, followed by an intermediate session the next day conducted by Tanvir Rahman of Tanvir Academy. On 1 May, participants entered the first competitive round, facing six corporate-style projects designed to test analytical acumen and data-handling prowess. Only 11% progressed to the next stage, underlining the event's rigour.
A final advanced Excel workshop, held on 9 May at East West University, was conducted by industry professionals Rahadul Islam of ACI Limited and Charles Alex Rozario of BRAC EPL. The grand finale on 10 May recognised the top 15 Excel performers, with Samin Al Fattah from Bangladesh University of Professionals crowned champion and awarded BDT 25,000. Runners-up included Rahid Mostafa of North South University and Shahil Mahmud Roktim of IBA, University of Dhaka, securing BDT 15,000 and BDT 10,000 respectively.
A distinguished panel of judges—drawn from Bkash, BRAC EPL, CodeCrafters, and IDLC Asset Management—evaluated the finalists on their ability to create financial statements, dashboards, and perform capital budgeting, scenario planning, and break-even analysis.
The closing ceremony, graced by Professor Dr Mohammad Ashik Mosaddik, Pro-Vice Chancellor of East West University, along with special guests Dr Tanbir Ahmed Chowdhury and Mr Jisan Mahmud, marked a fitting end to an event that not only celebrated talent but cultivated practical competence.
Guided by Club Moderator Mr Leo Vashkor Dewri, Finxcel 9.0 stood as a beacon of experiential learning, empowering a generation with the tools to thrive in the modern financial world.
