DC Films has selected "Promising Young Woman" director Emerald Fennell to write the script for live-action movie "Zatanna."

Following the success of the Wonder Woman films, the Zatanna project will put another female superhero in the franchise's spotlight, reports Collider.

No casting news or release date plans have been announced for Zatanna at this time.

The DC comic "Zatanna" is created by Gardner Fox and artist Murphy Anderson. Zatanna, the magician made her debut in a Hawkman comic way back in November 1964.

Zatanna is being cited as the most powerful sorcerer in the DC universe and has inherited her unique abilities from her father, alchemist Giovanni Zatara.

In the comics, Zatanna is known for her involvement with the Justice League and her romance with John Constantine, though she has never appeared in a DC movie. The character did appear on the CW's Smallville, where she was played by Serinda Swan.
