Last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the cinema theatres were closed on two Eids. This year the film industry had preparations and several big-budget movies were about to be released. But the second wave of coronavirus has messed everything up. Big-budget movie producers are still figuring out whether they will release the movies or not. In fact, the release of the films that were ahead in the race is also uncertain.

For the last 15 years, Shakib Khan's movies have been the ultimate Eid movies for Dhaliyood. In fact, we have seen five Shakib Khan movies released on one Eid in the past. This year for the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr, two movies of this popular hero 'Antratma' and 'Bidrohi'- are supposed to get released. Also, there are other star-studded films- 'Mission Extreme' with Arefin Shubho, 'Shan' of Siam and Puja, 'Bikkhov' of Shanto Khan and Srabanti.

Two movies of popular actor Shakib Khan were supposed to be released on Eid. One of them is 'Bidrohi', produced by Shapla Media. The shooting, dubbing and editing of this movie were completed last year. Selim Khan, the head of the production company, said, "If the theatres are open and even if no producer releases their movies, I will release 'Bidrohi'.  Because a movie loses its appeal if it isn't released on time."

The shooting of 'Antaratma' was done even before the lockdown began this year. Although the movie was supposed to be released on Eid, that is no longer possible as the director Wazed Ali Sumon has yet not finished the post-production works. On Tusday he told The Business Standard, 'We couldn't finish dubbing. Some editing is supposed to be done outside the country, which is not possible now because of the pandemic situation. So for the time being, we have retreated from Eid release.'

Mission Extreme is also waiting

Starring Arefin Shubho, 'Mission Extreme' was ready for release on Eid last year. The trailer and teaser of this big-budget movie were also released then. But its release got stuck because of the pandemic.  Later, the production company announced that it would be released on Eid this year. But the second wave of Covid has interrupted the plans once again.  And now the production company is in a dilemma whether to release it or not.

Sunny Sanwar, one of the producers and directors of the movie, told The Business Standard that even if the outbreak of corona decreased on Eid, there would be panic among the people. He says, 'If the film is released and the audience refuses to go to the theatres, we will face a massive loss. That is why we are observing for some more days. We will make a decision very soon. If we can't release it on Eid, we will release it after Eid if the situation is favourable."

Siam's 'Shaan' is coming this Eid

Starring Siam Ahmed, the movie 'Shaan' has been the talk in the film industry for some time. It has been heard that the movie might be released on the coming Eid. Azad Khan, the producer of the film, said, "I am ready to release 'Shaan'. I got a very positive response through the teaser. But if the Covid situation is out of control, then we have nothing to do. That is why we will make the final decision at least towards the end of Ramadan."

Meanwhile, Mia Alauddin, senior vice president of the cinema hall owners' association, said that the cinema halls would remain open on Eid. He said, 'We want producers to release good movies. If the movie is good, people will come. And then the cinema hall owners will be encouraged to ensure the hygiene rules.'
