Dhaka International Mobile Film Festival (DIMFF) 2021 has started its film submission process from Friday for its 7th season.

Like last year, there will be three categories. These are - Screening, Competition and One Minute Film.

For the first time, DIMFF 2021 has added an award on Screening category named the "DIMFF Best Film Award". Anyone from any place around the world can submit their film in Screening category.

In the Competition category, only students from different universities can submit their film. The best film from this category will be awarded "Cinemascope Best Film".

For the school and college-going students, DIMFF has introduced the "One-minute film" category and the best film from this category will get "ULAB Young Filmmaker" award.

In the Screening category, the film length can be any duration. Competition category films length can be maximum 10 minutes, and in the "One Minute film" category the films have to be one-minute length.

For both the latter categories, duration includes title and credit line. The participant cannot submit more than two films. English subtitle is mandatory for the film.

"Due to the coronavirus outbreak, the world has come to stand still for uncountable days. In that case, to make a film outside is not safe," Dr Kabil Khan, assistant professor of the Media Studies and Journalism Department of ULAB and advisor of DIMFF said.

"Last year on DIMFF 2020 some film works were successfully done at home. So, this year it is another big challenge for makers to create a film in zero budget and we encourage producers to make his film in zero cost," he added.

Dhaka International Mobile Film Festival (DIMFF) started its journey back in 2015 with this slogan "New generation, New tool, New communication." Cinemascope, an apprenticeship program of University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB), organises this festival. The main objective of Cinemascope is to encourage people to make films using their mobile phones.

The 7th Dhaka International Mobile Film Festival (DIMFF) will be held on February 26 & 27 next year.
