Bangladeshi Director Tanim Noor has made a new web series "Ekattor" for online video streaming site Hoichoi. The official trailer received positive responses from viewers since its release last week.

A total of eight episodes will be released on Hoichoi on March 26, according to Sakib R Khan, business lead of Hoichoi in Bangladesh. However, whether all the episodes can be streamed at the same time or consecutively, has not yet been decided.

The web series featuring Tariq Anam Khan, Nusrat Imrose Tisha, Shatabdi Wadud, Rafiath Rashid Mithila, Mostafa Monwar, Iresh Zaker, and Dipanwita Martin is based on the Liberation War of Bangladesh.

Iresh Zaker plays the role of a Pakistani major and Mithila plays the role of his wife, who is a journalist. She comes to East Pakistan without informing her husband and begins to collect information about the ongoing situation.

Meanwhile, a feeling of patriotism begins to grasp the leader of local goons in Old Dhaka. This role is played by Mostafa Monwar while Tisha plays the role of his girlfriend.  The story focuses on a secret file named Operation Blitz which decides the fate of all four of these characters.

Sakib said, "We had been planning for a web series for a long time and finally, we could do so. The story tells of the tumultuous times during March 1971. It was not easy to prepare dialogues, costumes and props which could accurately represent that time period. But Director Tanim and his entire team did a wonderful job. The shooting took place in Old Dhaka, Eskaton and the FDC premises."

Mithila said, "I never had to work this hard for any role before, it was quite a challenge. I had to speak fluently in Urdu."

Iresh Zaker shared his experience with The Business Standard about acting in the web series. "I could not work in media for almost a year as I was busy with other things. After Tanim offered me the role of a Pakistani major, he gave me a book titled "Stranger in my own country" to read. Such approach from any director is rare these days. The whole team has worked really hard."

"Ekattor" is the second web series by Tanim for Hoichoi. Last year, he directed "Money Honey" which was widely appreciated.
