US, Maldives congratulate Mirza Fakhrul on becoming President
The embassy said it looks forward to further strengthening bilateral ties with Bangladesh.
The US Embassy in Dhaka and Maldivian President Dr Mohamed Muizzu have congratulated Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on his election as the 23rd President of Bangladesh.
In a statement today (22 August), the US Embassy said it looks forward to working with President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and the government of Bangladesh to further strengthen the bilateral partnership.
President Muizzu also congratulated on Friday the newly elected Bangladeshi president on behalf of the government and people of the Maldives.

In a congratulatory letter, Muizzu said the enduring relationship between the Maldives and Bangladesh is built on strong historical ties and a shared commitment to regional stability and development.
He expressed confidence that bilateral cooperation would continue to expand in depth and scope under Mirza Fakhrul's leadership, bringing the two countries even closer in the years ahead.
