Pakistan PM Shehbaz congratulates Tarique, seeks stronger bilateral ties
He expressed his eagerness to engage in close and meaningful cooperation with the new Bangladeshi prime minister.
Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has extended his warmest felicitations to Tarique Rahman on being sworn in as the 11th prime minister of Bangladesh.
In a post shared on his official X account today (17 February), PM Shehbaz congratulated Tarique on assuming office and expressed his eagerness to engage in close and meaningful cooperation with the new Bangladeshi prime minister.
"I look forward to close and meaningful engagements with my brother, to further strengthen our bilateral cooperation across mutually beneficial areas and to deepen the historic ties between our two countries," the post read.
Earlier in the day, BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman took oath as the country's 11th prime minister, with the swearing-in of the new 50-member cabinet following his party's sweeping victory in the 13th national election.
President Mohammed Shahabuddin administered the oath at the South Plaza of Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.
