Nepalese ambassador meets opposition leader Shafiqur Rahman
The ambassador briefed Shafiqur on the ongoing rescue efforts, people’s suffering, and damage caused by landslides in Nepal.
Nepalese Ambassador to Bangladesh Ghanshyam Bhandari paid a courtesy call on Leader of the Opposition in Parliament Dr Shafiqur Rahman at his office in the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban today (10 September).
The meeting was held in a cordial and friendly atmosphere, according to a statement issued by the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami.
Deputy chief of mission at the Nepalese Embassy, Pratik Karki, was also present.

At the beginning of the meeting, Shafiqur expressed sorrow over the severe natural disasters, landslides and mudslides that recently struck Nepal. He also asked the ambassador about the latest situation in the country.
The ambassador thanked Shafiqur for expressing sympathy and referred to his efforts and condolence message following the natural disasters.
He also briefed the opposition leader on the ongoing rescue efforts, the suffering of people in Nepal, the devastation caused by landslides, and the damage caused by the disasters.
In response, Shafiqur, who is also the ameer of Jamaat, referred to the friendly relations between Bangladesh and Nepal and assured the ambassador that Jamaat would stand by Nepal in every possible way.
Jamaat Nayeb-e-Ameer and Rajshahi-1 lawmaker Mujibur Rahman and Opposition Leader's Foreign Affairs Adviser Barrister Mir Ahmad Bin Quasem Arman, among others, were present.
