The minister expressed hope that China would honour its commitment to support the construction of a proposed 1,000-bed hospital in Bangladesh.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Sakhawat Husain has praised China's ongoing cooperation in Bangladesh's health sector and called for further expansion of that support.
He made the remarks today (2 March) during a meeting with Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen at the Health Ministry's conference room at the Secretariat.
The minister sought China's assistance in supplying testing kits and medical equipment, as well as in arranging accommodation facilities for physicians and researchers at Bangladesh Medical University.
He also expressed hope that China would honour its commitment to support the construction of a proposed 1,000-bed hospital in Bangladesh.
The Chinese ambassador said his country would not hesitate to assist in constructing the proposed 1,000-bed hospital, whether it is a general or a specialised facility.
He noted that Chinese medical teams had arrived to treat victims injured in the Milestone School plane crash and in other emergency situations.
China has also provided 82 robots to the Robotic Rehabilitation Centre and is offering training opportunities in China for Bangladeshi medical staff, the Chinese ambassador said.
The ambassador added that China is interested in supporting housing arrangements for doctors and researchers engaged in higher education.
