Dhaka condemns Israeli Knesset move to impose sovereignty over occupied West Bank
The statement firmly reiterated Bangladesh's position that Israel holds "no sovereignty over any part of the occupied Palestinian territory, including East Jerusalem"
The Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh has issued a strong condemnation of the recent approval by the Israeli Knesset of draft laws aimed at imposing "Israeli sovereignty" over occupied territories in the West Bank of the State of Palestine.
In a press release issued today (24 October), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Israel's continuous expansion of illegal settlements in the West Bank is a "blatant violation of international law, the UN Charter, and relevant UN Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 2334."
The statement firmly reiterated Bangladesh's position that Israel holds "no sovereignty over any part of the occupied Palestinian territory, including East Jerusalem."
Furthermore, Dhaka welcomed the Advisory Opinion of the International Court of Justice (ICJ), which was issued on 22 October 2025.
The ICJ's opinion, according to the government, "underscores Israel's obligations under international humanitarian law, including the prohibition on the use of starvation of civilians as a weapon of warfare."
The statement concluded by reaffirming Bangladesh's unwavering support for the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people. This includes their fundamental right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine based on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
