Bangladesh's emergency humanitarian aid reaches Sri Lanka
The consignment includes food items, essential medicines, tents, and other emergency materials
Bangladesh's emergency humanitarian assistance for people affected by the cyclone and floods in Sri Lanka has reached Colombo.
Following the directive of the Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus, a special Bangladesh Air Force aircraft carrying emergency relief landed at Sri Lanka's Bandaranaike International Airport today (3 December) at around 1:30pm Bangladesh time, according to CA Press Wing.
Bangladesh's High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Andalib Elias, formally handed over the relief items to the relevant Sri Lankan authorities. The aid package includes food items, emergency medicines, tents, and various essential supplies.
The Sri Lankan government has expressed sincere gratitude to Bangladesh for the urgent humanitarian support.
According to media reports, cyclone Ditwa and the resulting devastating floods have so far claimed around 465 lives in Sri Lanka, with many people still missing. Large areas of the country have been severely affected, and a significant portion remains submerged.
