Cakes have always been a big part of celebrations in Bangladesh. Whether it's a birthday, anniversary, or just a small get-together, there's almost always a cake on the table. Over the years, people have moved on from simple bakery cakes to more themed, layered, and creamy creations.

With social media influencing every part of our lives, cakes have become more than just desserts, they're part of the whole celebration vibe.

That's where things are starting to change. People, especially younger generations like Gen Z, are always looking for something different. They want desserts that are fun, creative, and something they haven't tried before. That's why fusion-style desserts are becoming more popular.

Ice cream cake is one of those fusion ideas that's been loved globally for years. International chains like Baskin Robbins have made it a popular treat in other countries. But in Bangladesh, it's never really been something you could easily buy off the shelf, until now.

Amid all this, one new product has been grabbing attention lately: the Savoy Ice Cream Cake. Made by Savoy Ice Cream Factory Limited, a well-known local brand behind hits like Ekdom Aam Sorbet and Shahi Kheer ice cream, this cake brings something totally new to the Bangladeshi market. It's the first locally produced dessert that combines real cake and ice cream in one neat package.

Officially launched on January 2025, Savoy's Ice Cream Cake started off with a limited release in Dhaka. But it didn't take long before it started showing up all over social media. People shared unboxing videos, posted photos from birthday parties, and quickly began calling it the "viral Savoy Cake."

"It's more than just a cake, it's a new way to celebrate," said a representative of Savoy. "People now look for desserts that feel special, that offer something new. This cake does that. It surprises you with the mix of textures and flavours."

So, what exactly makes this cake special?

For starters, it combines a soft, real cake base with creamy ice cream, giving you the best of both worlds in one bite. Many ice cream cakes available in the past were just ice cream moulded into a cake shape. But this one actually has a cake layer, so you get that warm, comforting texture along with the cool creaminess of ice cream.

The cake comes in two variants right now. The Golden Delight ice cream cake consists of vanilla cake with vanilla ice cream topped with crispy cashew nut crackles with strawberry ripple in between, greeting with a unique texture and combination in every bite. The Dark Desire cake, on the other hand, is wholeheartedly dedicated for chocolate lovers. It has a rich, brownie-like cake base with creamy chocolate ice cream that hits the sweet spot just right.

One customer shared, "I wasn't expecting much when I first purchased Golden Delight, but to my surprise it tasted better than I imagined. The cake and ice cream together was amazing."

Another unique aspect of this ice cream cake is the packaging. The cake comes in a thermocol box, which keeps it stable for more than 1 hour at room temperature. This feature makes it possible to carry ice cream for the very first time without worrying about getting it melted. That means you can pick one up and take it to a friend's house or carry it through traffic without worrying about it melting, something that matters a lot in cities like Dhaka.

The launch was meant to be small, but things took off quickly. The demand spread so fast outside Dhaka that Savoy had to act fast. "We were surprised by how quickly it caught on," said a Savoy spokesperson. "We had to speed up our distribution plans so people across the country could get it."

Now, the cakes are available in major supermarkets and even small retail shops across Bangladesh. It's not just a celebration cake anymore. People are buying it for weekend treats, family movie nights, or just because they're craving something sweet and different.

Savoy's Ice Cream Cake's success really shows how dessert preferences are drastically changing. People are no longer just looking for the usual cakes; they want something fun, convenient, and a little unexpected.

Regardless of whether it's a big celebration or just a random sweet craving, this ice cream cake feels like the perfect companion for any moment.
