Police ask Agargaon cake vendors to shut stalls from Friday after traffic chaos complaints
If anyone tries to sit again, legal action will be taken, says Agargaon OC

Police have instructed the cake vendors in Agargaon not to set up their makeshift cake stalls near the Election Commission office from Friday (10 October).
Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Imamul Haque said the viral craze has turned into a traffic nightmare, prompting a flood of complaints made through the national emergency service 999.
Besides, he said the stalls were set up by occupying the main street without taking permission from the city corporation
"Cake sellers were verbally asked not to set up any stalls there from Friday. If anyone tries to sit again, legal action will be taken," said the OC.
EC to ask city corporation to act against cake vendors causing traffic outside office in Agargaon
Earlier last evening (9 October), the Election Commission (EC) said it will request the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) to take measures against cake vendors whose activities have been disrupting traffic outside the EC headquarters in Agargaon.
Speaking to The Business Standard, EC Additional Secretary KM Ali Newaz said, "We are monitoring the situation and will instruct the authorities to take necessary action."
The vendors set up stalls along the route from Agargaon Metro Station to the EC office, with some even using car bonnets and makeshift tables to display their products.
The stretch from the Election Commission building to the Government Music College was packed with vendors selling homemade cakes.
