Shimmer: The home of stone-studded elegance and statement accessories
Over the past decade, Shimmer has built a reputation for its dazzling, stone-studded luxury shoes and clutches, particularly sought after for weddings and party wear

In today's local market, high-end shoes and clutches are widely available, both imported and locally produced. But when Shimmer first began its journey in 2011, the scene was entirely different. Online shopping was in its infancy, and there were no physical stores catering to luxury imported shoes and bags.
Founded by Mahjabin Syed, a former banker with a passion for handpicked accessories, Shimmer quickly became a go-to destination for premium footwear and handbags. The brand sources its products from India, Malaysia, Dubai, China, and Thailand.

Over the past decade, Shimmer has built a reputation for its dazzling, stone-studded luxury shoes and clutches, particularly sought after for weddings and party wear. The brand also offers intricately designed potlis and scarves.
"Everyone desires something unique for their wedding. When it comes to imported accessories, the options are often limited, and long shipping periods add to the hassle. But at Shimmer, customers can instantly get their desired item without any delays," said Mahjabin.
Located in Banani, Shimmer is more than just a boutique—it's an experience in luxury. Every detail of the space has been thoughtfully curated by Mahjabin herself, ensuring it reflects the brand's signature elegance and exclusivity.
Since its inception, Shimmer has received an overwhelmingly positive response from customers, with many returning for repeat purchases. The brand takes pride in its strong after-sales service, ensuring customer satisfaction even after a purchase.

"We go the extra mile for our customers. We provide any shoe repairing and stone-repairing services and, in some cases, even send the products back to their country of origin for fixes," Mahjabin added.
At Shimmer, the price range reflects the quality and exclusivity of the products. Shoes start from Tk4,500 and go up to Tk8,000, while clutches range from Tk5,500 to Tk20,000.
Potlis fall within a similar price bracket. The collection is heavily embellished with stones and intricate detailing, complementing traditional wear.
For this Eid, Shimmer has prioritised comfort, introducing a line of stylish yet wearable block heels, ensuring fashion meets functionality.

Running a business based on imported products in Bangladesh comes with its fair share of challenges. Mahjabin often faces shipping delays and customs complications, adding to the operational hurdles.
"Visa issues are particularly challenging as I personally travel to different countries to handpick items before importing them," she shared.
However, Shimmer is more than just a retail outlet; it is a trendsetter. The brand was the first to introduce Fringe clutches in Bangladesh, which soon became a sensation in the market.
"We were pioneers in bringing Fringe bags, and after the hype we created, many other brands followed suit," Mahjabin said with pride.
