Cha Chai: A cosy snack stop in the heart of Banani
Located at Banani 11, Cha Chai offers affordable comfort food, innovative cha, and street snacks that make it an easy escape from the city’s rush
Nestled in a charming corner of Banani 11, Cha Chai is a cosy little spot, perfect for unwinding with friends or co-workers after a long, exhausting day.
It also works well for a quick break or a small moment of low-key self-care, especially if you are not craving a big, expensive meal but something comforting and affordable.
We reviewed a few of their bestsellers.
Loaded masala fry
We started with their loaded masala fry — the usual loaded fries with a Bangali twist. Staying true to its name, it is packed with a special masala mix, capsicum, cottage cheese, and their signature sauces. The portion is beyond generous, and the flavours do not hold back either.
Every bite is rich, slightly spicy, and satisfying; the vegetables and cheese add texture, while the sauces round out the flavour of the dish. It is indulgent without being overwhelming and perfect for sharing. However, you will most certainly be tempted to keep it all to yourself!

Chicken roll (signature)
The rolls at Cha Chai are among their crowd favourites, and it is easy to see why. They are generously filled with tomatoes, onions, sauces, and perfectly cooked chicken. The flaky yet soft paratha makes them even more appetising.
They also offer a wide range of other roll options, including paneer, egg, chicken tikka, beef, and more — ensuring there is something for everyone, whether you are in the mood for something vegetarian, classic, or extra indulgent.
Moreover, these rolls come with a pleasant surprise. The packet features a section that offers a 15% discount — simply tear it off and bring it along on your next visit to redeem it. It is a thoughtful little touch that makes coming back even more tempting.

Doi fuchka (8 pcs)
Cha Chai's doi fuchka takes it up a notch — the crispy shells are filled with a piping hot filling, cooled by creamy, chilled doi. It is the perfect balance of both worlds: hot and cold in every bite. The chanachur on top only elevates the flavour.
Yet, despite all its mouthwatering features, the star of this dish is the tok; its spice and tanginess tie everything together beautifully. You can pair this with Tok Mishti or Jhal Tok fuchkas, or choose chotpoti for the complete street food experience.
If these dishes feel too heavy, you can always opt for lighter snacks: regular French fries, chicken wings, or shingaras stuffed with vegetables or kolija, starting at Tk15 per piece and going up to Tk440 for a 24-piece pack. For a group, the special combo of ten cups of dudh cha and 24 shingaras is a must-try. They also offer jhalmuri and pitha, perfect for nibbling while enjoying a chat with friends.

Chocolate cha
An eatery named Cha Chai would do us an injustice without good cha, but thankfully, they deliver. They serve tea in several flavours; herbal, masala, and tandoori are among the familiar options. The more unique ones include badam, maltova, and chocolate tea.
The chocolate tea is a delightful twist on classic dudh cha — rich, creamy, and subtly sweet, with just the right hint of cocoa that does not overpower the tea's natural taste.
It is indulgent without being cloying, making it a perfect treat for anyone looking to satisfy both a chocolate craving and a love for a comforting cup of tea. Each sip feels like a warm hug in a mug, and it is easily one of the most memorable drinks on their menu.

Bangla coffee
The Bangla coffee at Cha Chai hits the right notes for a homemade-style brew — warm, simple, and comforting — but it falls slightly short of being exceptional. Still, for the price, it is a safe choice, delivering good flavour without any frills and making it an easy, satisfying pick for a casual caffeine fix.

They also offer juices for a refreshing end to your meal.
Cha Chai does not stop at snacks, either. If you drop by before work, their breakfast combos are a hearty way to start the day. Each combo includes paratha, egg, dal, mixed vegetables, and a cup of dudh cha, all priced between Tk120 and Tk150 — simple, satisfying, and easy on the pocket.
This eatery also comes in handy when you need a break from the shopping bustle at Aarong, being right next door. After a long stroll through the store, you can relax with some snacks — the perfect pause before diving back into your shopping spree.
All in all, Cha Chai feels like a breath of fresh air amid many overpriced restaurants, serving familiar tastes in Banani. It is a welcome break from the hustle and bustle of the city.
