Abundance of fresh air, lush greenery and clean neighborhoods, the Bhutanese are overwhelmed with what Dhaka dwellers yearn for. The picturesque country is also famous for its all around the year pleasant weather. A perfect destination for those who love to travel, Land of the Thunder Dragon is an enchanting place.

A five-day trip will usually cover all the renowned destinations. You can always extend your visit because Bhutan is a country free of traffic jams and carbon emissions. Sounds delightful, does not it?

Punakha Dzong is arguably the most beautiful dzong in the country especially when blooming jacaranda trees all around it. Till mid-1950s, this was the capital of the country and all of the kings have been crowned here. Instead of having two traditional courtyards, Punakha Dzong has three.

Bhutan gives on arrival visa so after reaching Paro airport directly from Dhaka but a permit is required to visit Thimphu, Paro and Punakha, which can be obtained on the way to Thimphu from Paro airport. Often taxi drivers help tourists to get the permit.

From iconic temples to beautiful monasteries, Paro has a lot to offer. Paro Taktsang or the Tiger Nest is one of the most breathtaking monasteries to visit. According to Bhutanese myth, it was built within a night on a series of ledges near hanging cliffs, thousands of feet above Paro.

As beautiful as it is, Bhutan does not offer anything cheap. Restaurants, shops, pubs and cafés are expensive but there are roadside dumpling carts that offer delicious, freshly made momos, noodles and soups.

A drive from Paro to Thimphu is a serene journey with river on one side and hills on the other.

The main attractions of the city include Buddha point's marvelous Buddha Dordenma, Thimphu city Center, Weekend market, National Memorial Chorten, Centenary Farmer's Market and Semtokha Dzong.

During clear and warm days, on the way to Punakha from Thimphu, the Dochula Pass will offer a 360-degree panoramic view of the Himalayan mountain range.

Punakha Dzong is arguably the most beautiful dzong in the country especially when blooming jacaranda trees all around it. Till mid-1950s, this was the capital of the country and all of the kings have been crowned here. Instead of having two traditional courtyards, Punakha Dzong has three.

Between the sangam (confluence) of Mo Chhu (the female River) and Pho Chhu (the male River) Punakha Dzong has an extremely eye-soothing view. To get to the Dzong, you have to cross a bazam (bridge).

March to May are the best months to visit Bhutan but if you want to experience snowfall, February would be a good time to visit the country. For hiking, any time between October and December can be chosen.
