Why is Facebook abuzz with ‘Yes’ and ‘No’ posts?
Neither side initially provided any clarification about the purpose of the campaigns, leaving people curious about what these posts actually mean.
The social media platform Facebook is flooded with posts simply saying "Yes" or "No."
Leaders and activists of the BNP and its affiliated organisations launched a new campaign through Facebook posts late last night (29 October), in which they are posting just the word "No."
Chhatra Dal General Secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir also shared a post saying "No."
Meanwhile, the verified Facebook page of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement later shared a similar campaign post, as well as its supporters, but with the word "Yes."
However, neither side initially provided any clarification about the purpose of the campaigns, leaving Facebook users curious about what these posts actually mean.
In a post early today, Chhatra Dal shared the reason behind its campaign.
It said, "'No' to the conspiracy to remove the phrase 'absolute faith and trust in Almighty Allah' from the Constitution; 'No' to the plot to alter the July Charter after it was signed; 'No' to a referendum before the national election; and 'No' because the July Charter, earned with the blood of martyrs, belongs to no one's father."
Meanwhile, the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement has yet to elaborate on the reason behind its post.
