Unesco, Windmill Advertising Ltd join hands to preserve, promote rickshaw art

In a significant step toward preserving Bangladesh's vibrant rickshaw art, Unesco and Windmill Advertising Limited have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to safeguard, promote, and commercialise this unique cultural heritage.
The MoU signing ceremony was held today (6 March) at UNESCO's Dhaka Head Office, where the agreement was signed by UNESCO's Head of Office and Representative Susan Vize, and Windmill Advertising Ltd Managing Director Sabbir Rahman Tanim, reads a press release.
Under this agreement, the two organisations will launch a collaborative project titled 'Rickshaw Painting: Expanding the Canvas.'
The initiative aims to ensure the survival and growth of rickshaw art by providing national and global recognition to its artists. Through exhibitions, workshops, merchandise, digital outreach, and educational programmes, the project seeks to empower rickshaw artists both culturally and economically.
This collaboration also presents corporate partners with a unique opportunity to contribute to cultural preservation while benefiting from extensive brand visibility via large-scale events, digital platforms, and exclusive collaborations.
The signing ceremony was attended by notable figures including Unesco's Head of Culture Kizzy Tahnin, and Windmill Advertising Limited Head of Strategic Planning Schumonn Patwary.
