Tarique Rahman meets CA Yunus at Jamuna
This was the first in-person meeting between Tarique Rahman and Muhammad Yunus in Bangladesh
BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman met Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus at the State Guest House Jamuna in the capital this evening (15 January).
The vehicle carrying Tarique Rahman entered Jamuna at around 7:28pm. He was accompanied by his wife, Zubaida Rahman, and their daughter, Zaima Rahman.
Earlier, he left the BNP chairperson's office in Gulshan at 6:42pm and went to his residence, from where he departed for Jamuna with his family at 6:52pm.
According to the Chief Adviser's Press Wing, the meeting lasted for more than an hour. During the visit, members of the two families exchanged greetings, and the chief adviser was accompanied by his daughter, Dina Yunus.
This was the first in-person meeting between Tarique Rahman and Muhammad Yunus in Bangladesh.
Previously a meeting took place on 13 June last year in London during Yunus's visit to the United Kingdom.
At that time, Tarique Rahman was serving as the acting chairman of the BNP. The meeting was held at the Dorchester Hotel, after which representatives of both sides issued a joint statement.
Tarique Rahman returned to Bangladesh on 25 December last year after spending 17 years in exile in the UK. Upon his arrival at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka, he spoke with Chief Adviser Yunus over the phone.
