Flood situation in Bogura improves
The situation is improving very slowly, and water of the two rivers will be above danger level for a few more days
The flood situation has improved in Bogura, a northern district of Bangladesh. Although the water level of Bangali river has been stable for the last two days, the water level of Jamuna has decreased.
People concerned said the water of these two rivers would remain above the danger level for a few more days.
According to the Water Development Board, the water level of the Jamuna in Sariakandi area of Bogura dropped by four centimetres, and was flowing at 98 centimetres above the danger level on Tuesday morning.

However, the water level of the Bangali river in the same area has been at 21.7cm for the last two days.
Water Development Board officials said the situation is improving very slowly, and because of this, the water of those two rivers would be above the danger level for a few more days.
Bogura District Relief and Rehabilitation officer Azahar Ali Mandal said more than 133,000 people from 32,911 families were affected in the flood-hit areas. Rice and cash have already been distributed among the victims along with Tk7 lakh for cattle and Tk2 lakh for baby food.
Three five-member committees have also been formed to oversee relief efforts.
He added that although 70 shelters were opened, no victims took shelter there. However, some people have taken shelter in various places including at educational institutions.
On the other hand, the Kurigram District Relief and Rehabilitation Office said 250,000 people from 63,000 families in Kurigram have been affected by the floods. At the same time, at least 2,000 more people have become homeless due to the erosion of various rivers in the last two weeks.
Abu Bakkar and Khorshed Alam, members of Gharial Danga and Vidyananda Union Parishad in Rajarhat upazila, said about 150 families were under threat from river erosion. At least 50 families have become homeless in the last two weeks in those two unions.
Citing government reports, they said efforts are being made to rehabilitate 500 family members affected by the river erosion.
