 Cyclone Yaas: Navy providing food, medical assistance in coastal areas

The Bangladesh Navy has started providing food and medical assistance to the helpless and underprivileged in remote coastal areas affected by Cyclone Yaas.

On Thursday, Bangladesh Navy ship Adamma distributed relief to 600 families in Nalchira Ghat of Noakhali's Hatia upazila, and in Bhola's Manpura.

400 families in areas adjacent to the embankment in Cox's Bazar's Pekua upazila, were delivered assistance from another naval ship, the Aparajeyo.

Food and medical assistance was also provided to 300 families in East Dangmari and Rikhamari of Dakop upazila in Khulna, and another 300 families in Hurka Union Parishad, North Hurka and adjoining areas in Rampal upazila, under the supervision of Flotilla West in Mongla.

Relief was distributed to 1,000 families in Lalua, Chankhola, Banatipara and Charpara of Kalapara upazila in Patuakhali, from Naval Base Sher-e-Bangla.

As emergency food assistance, each affected family was provided various food supplies, including rice, pulses, sugar, oil, flour, chickpeas, and salt.

Mohammad Rezaul Karim Shammi, assistant director at the Inter Services Public Relation (ISPR) Directorate, gave media the above information details .

The Navy's assistance will continue till the situation improves in the areas affected by Cyclone Yaas, he said.
