Amphan death toll rises to 12 in Jashore

On Thursday, the district administration confirmed six deaths and another six deaths on Friday

The death toll due to super cyclone Amphan rose to 12 in different upazilas in Jashore after many trees fell and houses were destroyed.

On Thursday, the district administration confirmed six deaths and another six deaths on Friday.

Chaina Begum, 45, and her daughter Rabeya Khatun, 13, from Chaugachha upazila died when a tree fell on them. There are many similar victims in other upazilas.

Jashore deputy commissioner Mohammad Shafiul Arif confirmed the deaths of six people, while, according to the police report, five more died in Manirampur upazila and another in Sharsha.

District Intelligence Officer M Moshiur Rahman confirmed the information to the media.

After the storm, the communication system was also disrupted and the information of casualties reached the administration and journalists late.
