The biggies of Bollywood have maintained a stoic silence. Right from Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor to Varun Dhawan, Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Salman Khan, these actors haven't spoken a word about the issue, which is getting escalated by the day. Their deafening silence has irked social media users, who have made #ShameOnBollywood and #BollywoodKeBekaarBuddhe trend on Twitter.

Netizens are expressing their anger and displeasure over the silence of these big-shot Bollywood stars. At the same time, people are upset with a few celebrities showing solidarity towards the protesters.

While these actors continue to stay silent, filmmakers like Mahesh Bhatt and Anubhav Sinha have strongly slammed these violent attacks on students. "We believe Citizenship Amendment Bill is discriminatory and it violates the constitutional values. We don't accept this bill and if it becomes a law we shall boycott its execution. We pledge not to submit any documents if asked to prove our citizenship," said Mahesh Bhatt in a video, which is now viral on the internet.

"When no one has the answers, students do. Look at history worldwide. And stop questioning just the movie stars. There are other 'ICONS' too who 'copy paste tweets' on everything jingoistic. QUESTION ALL OF THEM!!! Tell them to at least post dictations. Cricketers. Writers. Singers. Athletes etc etc. TAG THEM," is how Anubhav reacted.
