Apple’s video streaming service to cost $9.99 monthly

Tech giant Apple is going to launch its first streaming video service – Apple TV Plus - in November at only $9.99 cost per month.

According to reports by the Verge, the streaming service will compete against the launch of Disney+, the entertainment juggernaut’s own streaming service which is set to feature a mix of original Disney films, Marvel content, Star Wars content, and original shows and movies across all of its networks.

Apple hopes to reach the target of $50 billion in annual services revenue by 2020. TV Plus will act as a stepping stone to reach that milestone.

The video streaming service will showcase only five channels for now. And the list of programs will include: ‘The Morning Show’ featuring Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon; ‘See’ featuring Aquaman’s Jason Momoa; a production called ‘Truth Be Told’ with actress Octavia Spencer; Steven Spielberg’s revival of ‘Amazing Stories’; and a documentary series called ‘Home’.

Apple plans on adding more shows to their list in order to compete against their biggest rivals, Netflix.

Although there will be selective programs available in the channel, Apple has already pulled out the big names from the industry.

Oprah Winfrey to bring two documentaries to TV plus. And Apple’s six billion dollar investment on original content lead them to spend hundreds of millions of dollars on ‘The Morning Show’ and ‘See’ each.

The competition for Apple gets tough as its $10 a month for five- show lineup without any kind of bundle package will make hard to sell. Its competitor Disney+ which will be launching on its own for $6.99 per month and will also be available with Hulu and stripped-down version of ESPN thrown in for $12.99 per month.
