Turkey reiterates its commitment to increasing trade, investment in Bangladesh

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu has reiterated Turkey's commitment to increasing trade and investment in Bangladesh.

The pledge was reiterated during the Turkish foreign minister's meeting with Bangladeshi Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen in the Turkish capital, Ankara.

The foreign ministers of the two countries emphasised the importance of increasing communication between the people of the two countries–including the exchange of education and the strengthening cultural ties. Meanwhile, emphasis was placed on further strengthening the friendly bilateral relationship between the two countries.

Mevlut Cavusoglu praised the socio-economic development of Bangladesh. He hopes that the next Foreign Office Consultation (FOC) and Joint Economic Commission (JEC) meeting between the two countries will be held soon. On behalf of Turkey, the Turkish Foreign Minister expressed his interest in providing Bangladesh with more ventilators and masks.

During the meeting, Mevlut Cavusoglu mentioned that Turkey will continue to provide all kinds of assistance to the Rohingya people of Myanmar who took shelter in Bangladesh. In this very cordial and fruitful discussion, the foreign ministers of both countries agreed to make the activities of the D-8 more dynamic. Both countries expressed their solidarity on the rights of Palestine.

Foreign Minister Momen is currently in Turkey on a four-day visit. Deputy Governor of Istanbul, Ismail Sanli, welcomed him when he arrived in Istanbul on September 13. The Foreign Minister of Turkey hosted a luncheon in Ankara in honour of the foreign minister. The foreign ministers of both countries addressed a press conference afterward.
