Export through Bhomra port resumes after 95 days
Due to the closure, the Bhomra port has suffered a revenue loss of more than Tk250 crore
After a hiatus of 95 days, export activities have started through Bhomra Land Port of Satkhira.
Export activities from Bangladesh to India began at 2pm on Monday.
Enam Hossain, revenue officer at the Bhomra Land Port, said export activities began with the shipment of two truckloads of mosquito nets, rice bran oil and shredded (jhut) clothes to India.

Earlier on June 20, import activities started from India through the port – after a break of 87 days.
Enam Hossain said during the closure for the Covid-19 pandemic, the Bhomra port has suffered a revenue loss of more than Tk250 crore.
Meanwhile, nine Bangladeshis trapped in India for 95 days have returned home. They entered the country through the Bhomra port throughout Monday.
Biswajit Sarkar, a sub-inspector at the Bhomra Immigration Police, said the Bangladeshis were stranded in India due to the lockdown.
"Today, nine Bangladeshis have returned from India. Apart from this, the Indian immigration has not given any decision about the Indian nationals who are stuck in Bangladesh," he added.
Moreover, there are 40-50 cargo trucks waiting at Zero Point to travel to India.
