A company named Khan and Sons imported 56 tonne of betel nuts from Thailand against a declaration of 36 tonne

The Chattogram Customs House has seized a consignment of 56 metric tonne betel nuts as the importer attempted to evade duty amounting to Tk32 lakh by declaring a lower amount of goods.
A company named Khan and Sons imported 56 tonnes of betel nuts from Thailand against a declaration of 36 tonnes, said sources at the Chattogram Customs House.
Noor A Hasna, assistant commissioner at the Audit Investigation and Research (AIR) Unit of the Chattogram Customs House, said C&F agent Merino Traders Ltd submitted a bill of entry to the customs authority to unload the consignment of Khan and Sons on August 5.
