UCB to exit National Housing by offloading entire stake
This complete exit comes after a major divestment in August 2025, when UCB sold 56.35 lakh shares of National Housing through the DSE.
United Commercial Bank PLC (UCB), a corporate sponsor of National Housing Finance PLC, has announced its decision to exit the non-bank financial institution by offloading its entire remaining holding of 5.63 lakh shares.
In a disclosure filed with the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) today (18 August), UCB expressed its intention to sell the shares at prevailing market prices through the public market within the next 30 working days. Following the announcement, National Housing shares inched up by 0.68% to close at Tk29.40.
This complete exit comes after a major divestment in August 2025, when UCB sold 56.35 lakh shares of National Housing through the DSE.
Incorporated in 1998 and listed on the stock exchanges in 2009, National Housing's shareholding structure as of July shows sponsors and directors jointly holding a 45.57% stake. The government owns 9.34%, institutional investors hold 15.07%, and general investors account for the remaining 30.02%.
Meanwhile, National Housing posted a slight improvement in its earnings for the first half of 2026. According to its latest financial report, the company's earnings per share (EPS) for the April-June 2026 quarter stood at Tk0.19, matching the restated EPS of Tk0.19 for the same period in 2025. For the January-June 2026 period, EPS rose to Tk0.43 from Tk0.41 in H1 2025.
The company's net operating cash flow per share (NOCFPS) saw a significant jump to Tk14.94 for January-June 2026, compared to Tk5.88 in the previous year. Net asset value (NAV) per share also improved to Tk17.49 as of 30 June 2026, up from Tk17.06 on 31 December 2025.
For 2025, the company's board recommended a 10% cash dividend. The payout is subject to shareholder approval at its AGM, scheduled to be held online on 15 September.
