Two Beximco firms lead market turnover, totalling Tk49cr

Beximco Group's two listed firms – Beximco Pharmaceuticals and Shinepukur Ceramics – topped the turnover chart on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) today (6 April), jointly contributing Tk48.88 crore.
According to the DSE, Beximco Pharmaceuticals also topped the gainers' chart with a 9.77% rise, reaching Tk108.80 per share. With this price gain, its market capitalization at the DSE rose to Tk4,420.97 crore.
The drugmaker contributed Tk30.73 crore – or 7.39% – to the day's total turnover of Tk415.50 crore.
Following the fall of the previous government in 2024, Beximco Pharmaceuticals' share price hit a two-year low of Tk67 in October last year. Since then, the price experienced fluctuations until mid-March this year, after which it began to rise again.
Over the last eight trading days, the share price has surged by 34.48%, rising from Tk80.90 on 18 March, according to DSE data.
In the first half of the current fiscal year through December, its consolidated earnings per share (EPS) grew by 17.63% to Tk7.87, up from Tk6.69 during the same period of the previous fiscal year.
For the full FY24, it reported an EPS of Tk13.07, compared to Tk10.34 in the previous year. The company paid a 40% cash dividend to its shareholders for FY24.
Shinepukur Ceramics
Shinepukur Ceramics, another concern of the Beximco Group, was the second most traded stock on Sunday with a turnover of Tk18.27 crore, and was the third-highest gainer.
Its share price surged by 9.54% to Tk28.70 each, with a market capitalization of Tk385.05 crore at the DSE.
DSE data show that its share price has been increasing since mid-February. At that time, the share was priced at Tk11, gradually climbing to Tk28.70 by today.
In the first half of the current fiscal year, the company incurred a loss of Tk1.35 per share. During the same period in the previous fiscal year, its earnings per share was Tk0.02. For FY24, it reported an EPS of Tk0.16 and paid a 2% cash dividend to its general shareholders.
