Stocks tumble, DSEX lose 81 points

Stocks at the Dhaka bourse on Sunday, the first trading day of the week, witnessed a volatile session, and DSEX, the benchmark index of the bourse, lost 81 points as the prices of most stocks declined amid selling pressure.
With today's decline, stocks dropped for the fifth straight session, dragging DSEX by 245 points to settle at 5,202 points, according to the data of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE).
DSE Shariah index, DSES decreased by 19.46 points to 1,114 points, and DS30, the blue-chip index of the DSE, declined by 34 points to settle at 1,998 points.
On Sunday, of the traded 396 stocks, 78% or 311 stocks, including the blue-chip stocks prices decline amid selling pressure.
Turnover at the DSE slightly increased by 2.33% to Tk542 points.
Simtex Industries led the top gainer chart as its share price hit the daily upper circuit with 9.87% to Tk26.7 each, followed by Pragati Life Insurance by 8.71% to Tk267 each, and S Alam Cold Rolled Steel by 6.07% to Tk19.2 each.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh Industrial Finance topped the loser list as its share price declined by 9.37% to Tk2.9 each, followed by Peoples Leasing and Finance by 9.09% to TK1 and Social Islami Bank by 8.51% to Tk4.3 each.
