CA Yunus orders swift action to bring attackers of Osman Hadi to justice
“No form of violence aimed at disrupting the election will be tolerated,” the chief adviser said.
Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus has expressed deep concern over the shooting of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson and Dhaka-8 independent aspirant Sharif Osman Hadi, who was critically injured after armed assailants opened fire on him in the capital's Paltan area today (12 December).
He issued strict orders to law enforcement agencies to launch a swift and comprehensive investigation, identify everyone involved in the attack, and bring them to justice, reads a statement from the CA's Press Wing.
He has directed investigators to immediately collect evidence from the crime scene, take statements from eyewitnesses, review CCTV footage, and determine whether the assault was part of any organised plot.
Yunus has instructed authorities to ensure the highest level of medical care for the injured politician and directed the health ministry to closely monitor all treatment procedures.
Terming the attack "completely unacceptable" in an election environment, the chief adviser said such violence is extremely regrettable for the country's peaceful political landscape.
"No form of violence aimed at disrupting the election will be tolerated," the chief adviser said.
"It is our responsibility to guarantee public safety and ensure unhindered movement of candidates. Whoever the perpetrators are, they will be brought under the law."
He called upon all political parties, activists, supporters, and citizens to maintain peace and restraint so that the upcoming election can be held in a safe, participatory, and peaceful environment.
