Equity indices of both the stock exchanges reported gains despite large-cap companies' share prices fell on Wednesday.

During the first hour of trading, DSEX, the key index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), rose by 0.22% or 13.34 points to 6,006 till 11 am.

However, blue-chip index DS30 fell by 0.16% to 2,189 points.

DSE turnover, an important market indicator, jumped by 28% to Tk602.03 crore in the corresponding period.

Global Insurance topped on the DSE turnover chart, and gainer's list as the company declared a 10% cash dividend to the shareholders for the financial year 2020.

DSE had 170 gainers against 112 losers, while prices of 62 scrips remained unchanged

Meanwhile, the benchmark index CASPI at the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) gained 26 points to 17,402.
