Stocks gain despite selling pressure

Equity indices of both the stock exchanges witnessed a gaining spree during the first hour of the trading session on Sunday despite selling pressure on the financial sector.
DSEX, the key index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), rose by 0.20% point to reach 6,078 till 11 am.
DSE turnover in the corresponding period stood at Tk601.16 crore.
Beximco Limited grabbed the top position on the DSE turnover chart with trade worth Tk70.85 crore, while Provati Insurance and Al-Arafah Islami Bank were the top losers in the early hour of today's session.
On the first trading day of re-listed companies from the OTC (over the counter), Monno Fabrics, Paper Processing and Packaging, and Bangladesh Monospool Paper reported the highest price hike of 10%.
Meanwhile, DSE had 216 gainers against 111 losers, while prices of 35 scrips remained unchanged.
On the other hand, the port city bourse Chittagong Stock Exchange gained 45 points to close at 17,630.
