Equity indices of both the stock exchanges witnessed downward trend amid investors' selling pressure in the first one-and-half-hour trading session on Sunday.

DSEX, the key index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), fell 18.46 points or 0.36% to 5,089 till 11:30 am.

Moreover, DSE Shariah-based DSES index lost 5 points to 1,175 and blue-chip index DS30 dropped 3 points to 1,795.

Turnover, a major indicator of the market, on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) trading floor slightly rose 1% to Tk273.93 crore in the corresponding period.

Out of the 346 issues traded during the same time frame, DSE had only 95 gainers against 175 losers, while prices of 76 scrips remained unchanged.

Meanwhile, the benchmark index CASPI at the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) dropped 4 points to 14,665. 

Of the total 153 issues traded till then, 45 gained, 79 declined, and 29 issues remained unchanged with Tk12.4 crore in turnover.
