Selim Osman elected BKMEA president for the 5th time

AKM Selim Osman, a member of Parliament from Narayanganj, has been elected as the president of the board of directors of the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) for the fifth time. 

Additionally, Mohammad Hatem was elected the first vice president, Amol Podder the second vice president, Gauhar Jamil as the third vice president, and Morshed Sarower Sohel as the fourth vice president on Thursday.

Mohammad Ali, chairman of the election administration board, said, "Twenty-seven directors of the combined knit forum submitted their nomination papers. As there were no other applications, all 27 directors were elected uncontested – among which one president and four vice presidents were elected on Thursday."

As there were two candidates for the position of second vice president, Amol Podder was elected through a secret ballot. His contestant was director Fazle Elahi Shamim. 

This committee will be valid from 2019 to 2021.

The elected directors of the BKMEA are: Mohammad Monzurul Haque, Abu Ahmed Siddique, JM Faruk, Ashikur Rahman, Khandokar Saiful Islam, Md Sahadat Hossain Bhuyian Shajun, Nasimul Tarek Moin, Raton Kumar Saha, Nando Dulal Saha, Md Kabir Hossain, Tarek Afzal, Muzibur Rahman, Monsur Ahmed, Fazle Ehsan Shamim, Mostofa Kamal Pasha, MI Siddique (Selim Mahbub), Md Mostofa Monower Bhuyian, Imran Kader Turzo, Rajib Das Shujoy, Md Hasan, Ahmed Nur Faisail, and Mirza Akber Ali Chowdhury. 

All elected members formally took charge of their new duties through an inaugural ceremony held at Nasim Osman Memorial Park beside Narayanganj Link Road on Thursday. 

Later, the newly elected president AKM Selim Osman, vice presidents, and directors were welcomed by local and national business organisations including Narayanganj Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
