Workers block Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway demanding Eid bonus

Workers of a sweater factory in the Telipara area of Gazipur have blocked the Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway, demanding their Eid-ul-Fitr bonus, bringing traffic to a standstill and causing severe disruptions for commuters.
The workers started the blockade at around 9:15am today (14 March).
Law enforcement officials were working to restore order.
The blockade was later lifted around 12:30pm, according to police.
According to police and worker sources, over 200 to 300 workers from Smoke Sweater Factory began protesting after 9am. Later, they moved onto the Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway, blocking vehicular movement.
Bason Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kaysar Ahmed said, "There are no outstanding salary payments for this factory, but the workers have raised several demands, including the Eid bonus.
"We are in talks with both the factory management and the workers to resolve the issue."
